Completely unrelated to self-publishing, but equally as cool: I checked out some professional boxing live for the first time Saturday night. Some friends and I lucked out and got some table seats to the Dickie Ryan fight. Ryan is a local legend: a boxing heavyweight AND a former Husker full back. People were just going apeshit for him to win. In fact, the crowd went apeshit even for the local undercard guys who no one had probably ever heard of. I was right there along side them, cheering these guys on. I’ve only read about the community pride in fighters, but I’ve never felt it first hand like that. It’s weird that boxing has that effect on people.
Ryan is the one in the black trunks. My shot doesn’t do him much justice. I assure you he is a big man.
