I’ve been reading over Comic Book Lettering: The “Comicraft” Way which I picked up in Chicago. I highly recommend it to anyone that is interested in learning some simple step-by-step techniques to improve their lettering, but the book also delves into conceptual development, a much needed area of improvement when it comes to standard comic book design. Richard Starkings and his crew are amazingly good graphic designers, and I’m glad they are out there making comics look better.
