Some believe that this time would be the perfect opportunity to work all weekend. I chose instead to spend it with family and visiting friends. I have been worrying about Golden Boy and my future projects too much of late (as noted in my recent bouts of insomnia), so this holiday seemed like a perfect opportunity to catch up on my sleep and recharge.
I also spent some time Saturday afternoon reading Bone, volumes 1 and 2. Jeff Smith is truly a master of his craft. I read them both, then grabbed a notebook and went through them again, examining and studying his work. Like Will Eisner, Stan Sakai and Carla Speed McNeil, Smith is truly a creator whose work is a model to aspire to.
