    Another One Off the List

I’ve felt terrible all week – I think from allergies. Sore throat is killing my fun. Sleep schedule is off also from daylights savings time. I just feel funky.

In that spirit, I sat down to watch Say Anything last night for the first time. Okay, now before you all collectively say “YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT?!?” at the top of your lungs whenever I mention a movie like this that somehow skipped past my radar, I was probably busy drawing at the time, and now people pay me to draw*, so… um… drop it.

Anyway… great flick! I’ve always liked John Cusack before seeing this movie, but now it is on a new level. He was just fantastic in this movie. It is no Better Off Dead, but it is solid, mainly from his nervous delivery of great lines like “You shared it with a dick.”

So… I don’t want to hear anymore crap from you mean little pop culture bastards out there. I’ve seen Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Say Anything, and most of The Breakfast Club; I think I can be in the club now, yes?

But have you seen Heathers and The Goonies? What about Stand By Me?

I have seen all of those (but Heathers was viewed for the first time a couple years ago).

Ahh the 80’s…Make me want to put on some Killing Joke and key some cars… lol.

To sum it up: I was one of the kids at prep on field day that didn’t go catch the cool cliché movies like 16 candles… I watched Red Dawn, Re-Animator, and C.H.U.D. with the rest of the stoners, heathens, and the other AD&D playing infidels in the basement.

Those teen flicks are great, but many felt at that age and time they catered to the kids we really hated. Everything turned out ok in them in the end, which never happened in real life. Watching the world get blown away, diseased, or eaten by zombies seemed more plausible, or at least palatable.

My dad used to watch the worst television, so I got to catch classics such as Class of Nuke ‘Em High, Toxic Avenger, and Amazon Women in the Avacado Jungle of Death during the 80s Brat Pack films era.

Nuke Em High is awesome. The Robot teachers right? Sorta a terminator-ish rip off if i remember.
