This weekend was Planet Comicon in Kansas City. Ugh. I’m still tired. My eyes hurt from all the pasty flesh. My stomach hurts from all the deliciously evil-bad food. I spent quite a bit of time talking with people from Omaha, which was weird. Good times.
The best part of the trip (every year) is going to the casinos to eat Bryant’s barbecue and gambling. This year, the gambling was cut short by a viewing of Sin City. It was amazing; I was happy to finally see it since the con was buzzing about it all weekend.
To end the trip, I finally shaved my beard off when I got home. Somebody on Friday said I had my “Chuck Norris-thing goin’ on.” Time to shave. It was time to shave, anyway, because of the warm weather, but it was definitely time after that comment. My scar has healed quite nicely and is pain-free dragging sharp metal across it.
Having no beard has taken years off me. I still walk by mirrors and stop because I’m not used to it yet. I’m baby-faced again, with a much happier Chief as a result.
Shaving would have been better with this, I think.
Sin City was fantastic – I had a big dumb grin on my face through the whole damn thing. It was the comic. I also liked the credits at the end, giving thanks to some important creators. Someone in our group pointed out that Jack Kirby got more credit on Sin City than on X-Men.
My favorite part was (of course) Marv’s story… “The Hard Goodbye.” Mickey Rourke is Marv. I loved it when he was going through his tools and got to his “mitts.” I was exhausted by the end of it; I had achieved nerdvanna.
Count me in on being tired from that trip. I am still blurry, and i am still looking for that cat-nap that will finally put me back up to speed.
Sin City was absolutely incredible. As Max had said before, we were exhausted by the end of the movie due to all of the visuals and violence. Loved it very, very much.
Planet Comicon is an excuse for a bunch of our studio pals to get together and goof off. Not much for a pro to do there besides sketch.

Dude! Stop mirroring me! Or maybe I should stop mirroring you. But I spent so much on the surveillance equipment…
Either way, I got to catch Sin City this weekend, too. I thought it was great, but I’m not the comic genius you are, so what did you think? (you didn’t say)
Shave and a haircut (less than 2 bits) here, too.
Damn, that’s almost creepy.
