Bike Dreams

I’ve been thinking about bikes a lot this morning (and my weird craving for pizza at every meal, mmm, pizza). I have found myself surfing to bicycle sites for the past few weeks, secretly wishing to ride more. I have a bike, but I live in a city that makes it almost impossible to use for more than a recreational device. I wish I could ride it to work. I guess I could now, but I would need to take a shower, and that isn’t too convenient at the job.

When I see pictures from Amsterdam or other cities where biking is a major form of transportation, I look longingly. Omaha is just so spread out that it is hard to bike anywhere. True, we do have many more trails than we did even 10 years ago, but it isn’t as good as it could be. I’m jealous of cities whose geography was planed on European pedestrian-centric grids.

I wish I could eat some pizza right now, too…
