I happened into another lettering gig this last week. This gig is for Big Q, a new series of short stories produced by Shocktrauma Studios for Negative Burn. Phil Hester writes and partners with my buddy Aaron Gillespie on the art chores, with Andrew Walls and Jim Woodyard helping out with the inks. I did the lettering.
I’ve had to explain what lettering is at work quite a bit lately. I have boiled the description down to “Um, well, I’m… no. Yes. I’m the guy who creates the word balloons… and stuff.” I get knowing nods then; they get it now.
The story is pretty grim fun. If you like your prison stories like Oz, then you will enjoy it. Cool premise, cool character, cool art and cool writing equals cool comic. I think it will be in the next issue of Negative Burn.
