Sorry about that title, but last night, my ass rejoiced in its brand-spanking new seat. I love my new office chair! It is so comfortable; I can work for hours and not notice at all. Working at home is fun again!
I started writing a new graphic novel last night after a powerful brainstorm yesterday during lunch. I’ve been thinking about trying to do at least a 64 page graphic novel a year that I completely write and draw. That schedule should give me plenty of time to take on other projects. I also thought that publishing them in pieces online would be cool. The Golden Boy Blog worked well as a motivational tool for me. I had to make progress on the book in order to post to my blog, and I tried to post an entry every other day. Since I was under contract with Unbound Comics not to publish the work online, I didn’t (except for the prequel story I did for fun), although now it would be fun to post pages up online first. I could get instant feedback as well as motivation, then collect the work for a print version when I was finished.
Anyway, back to writing. I sat in my comfy chair and pounded out 6 great pages. I forgot how much fun writing is since I’ve been illustrating so much lately. My mind started to draw different and better paths for the story to follow, so I kept one document open for the script, then another for the plot/story outline, so I could revise as needed (you can easily do that with one of these babies... hee hee hee). On top of all that, the new Aqua version of the very versatile AbiWord worked amazingly well for a development release (Mac OS X users – look for release 2.1.1 to download).
I can’t wait to show this book to the world when it is done. I was cackling to myself all night while writing it. It is so far from Golden Boy that I can’t believe it is coming out of my head.
