Do You Squidoo?

I am laid up again with the cold/sinus plague, a mere three weeks since last time so this will be brief. I’d been taking tons of vitamins and got back into my exercise routine and everything. No love from the body’s immune system, however. None at all.

Something new was quietly launched this week onto the web: Squidoo. I have been a very secret-like beta tester for the service, and it is… interesting. I think it will become more interesting the longer it is out in the world. Basically, Squidoo is a co-op, and runs on the principle that everyone is an expert in at least one thing. You build a “lens,” which is a web page on a subject that you know quite a bit about and you manage it from there. A lens is supposed to help people find the information they want faster. Any time someone hits an ad off of your page, the money from the ad goes into the co-op treasure chest. The FAQ explains why you would want a lens better than I could.

One blogger really hit home why this would be a neat service, and it is very appropriate considering how I am feeling:

A trusted source I read online for emarketing and WOM thought leadership had a brief post entitled “Another Brilliant Woman Enters the Blogosphere”. Awesome, I thought! I’d like to read more from women in Marketing & Technology. And I like smart people (I can then quote them and sound smart myself). I immediately clicked on the link and today’s entry happens to be about her sinus infection.

This is terrible. I was pre-disposed to liking this blogger. She came highly recommended. And after reading a few posts, she has a great review and insightful commentary on Tim Sanders’ ‘Love is the Killer App – How to Win Business and Influence Friends’. But I’m having a hard time getting past the sinus infection.

There you go. Sinus infections driving traffic away.

I’ve got two lenses out there right now. One is for myself, obviously. My other lens is for my favorite comics, Sin City. One thing I’m still struggling with though are my best Parlor posts for my personal lens. Does anyone have any suggestions, any posts that you thought were great?
