This was some of the many Spider-Man's I drew (thanks to Fredd telling everyone to come my way when they asked for Spider-Man). The one on the right showed mercy by saying that she preferred the black costume. God bless you, young lady.
Oh wow! Free Comic Book Day was so much fun! But man, my hand is jacked. We were all drawing machines – I think I ended up doing about 30 to 35 sketches. The line never ended thanks to the presence of our superstar Phil Hester, and he was a machine. We all were.
The day started at 10 AM and went to 6 PM. By 3:00, we were running on guts and willpower, all of us complaining about our hands tightening up. I sat with a couple of good guys – Bruce McCorkindale and Rick Hiltbrunner, both of whom were awesome foxhole buddies. Fredd really did me a favor by printing up those Spider-Man pinups for me to autograph. That saved me a ton of sketching. Unfortunately, he thought it would be funny to tell the kids to get me to draw a Spider-Man for them! I ended up drawing about 10 Spider-Men! One poor little girl convinced me to draw a Spider-Man versus Green Goblin fight scene.
I did luck out on some sketches though. Bruce had to draw two General Grievous sketches back to back, and Fredd and Phil had to draw a couple Darth Vader sketches. About the only weird sketch of the day was a little girl who wanted a Hong Kong Phooey – and weirdly another kid an hour later wanted one also!
Thanks to Krypton for having me as a guest, for running for us (reference or drinks), and for the excellent meals they provided. Thanks to all the artists for making it so fun. Thanks to Patrick for running reference for us when the Krypton employees were slammed with customers. Thanks to all of my friends and family who made it down to visit. And thanks especially to all the fans who stood patiently in line. I can’t wait for next year!
That is hilariuos, I never thought of that. You will soon mutate and evolution will give you one huge meaty mitt, while the other grows weak and dies like a branch without water…
Also Hong Kong Phooey rules.
Sing along with me…
Hong Kong Phooey, number one super guy.
Hong Kong Phooey, quicker than the human eye.
He’s got style, a groovy style, and a car that just won’t stop.
When the going gets rough, he’s super tough, with a Hong Kong Phooey chop…
lol

Actually it was FUCKING HILARIOUS that you had to do so may Spider-Man sketches. Saved me a lot of time so i could do … General Grievious. Shit.
Now watch, in EPIII he is gonna be as lame as Boba Fett was in RETURN OF THE JEDI.
You rocked the house, dude! You took up the challenge and came through with flying colors! Whileit was not generally known, when Phil and I went out to my car, we were slouched in our seats like wet bags of dough. We were wiped. My hand was not so much sore as i was just worn out after all the noise, and chaos. Yet i would do it again in an instant.
You wore the mantle of Shocktraumanaut well, young padewan!

I missed free comic book day. But could you draw me the Tumber vs. Machine Man?
