Free Comic Book Day 2007
This was one of many Superman pieces I did. It's weird - I didn't draw any Spider-Man pieces even though the movie came out this weekend. Every year I do this it seems like the movies from the year before are the characters that kids want to see.
Phew! What a day…
Free Comic Book Day was insane. Thank you for everyone standing in line for over 2 hours to see us. All nine of us drawing free sketches appreciate your patience and hope you walked away with a lot of cool free stuff! I took a couple breaks throughout the day and saw the line to get inside the store; the line never seemed to get shorter!
I love doing Free Comic Book Day at Krypton Comics because it feels like a mini-convention. Some of the people that come are there for the free stuff and probably won’t set foot in the store until next year, but there is such an overwhelming amount of people who are there because they love comics. It just makes me feel good to donate my time for you all.
My hand is still recovering, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I ended up doing about 27-30 sketches for fans (that was about the average for all of us) over the 8 hours we were there. Thanks to all of you who showed up, and again, for Krypton Comics for throwing one of the most looked forward to events during the year (especially among the local artists here).

Max, Just wanted to thank you for coming out to Krypton and giving us some fun-filled memories. My son has been carrying (a xerox of) his Republic Commando sketch in his backpack for the last three days and wants to frame the original. I’m sure you remember the innocent little comment that had Fredd and the rest of the guys egging him on. Anyway, thanks again, your efforts (and all of your compatriots) were much appreciated. We had a great time —-
