Despite ending the weekend with a late night viewing of Million Dollar Baby and a bottle of scotch1, I had a pleasant two day break, mainly spent to myself since the Chief was off visiting friends out of town.
Yesterday I spent the afternoon enjoying 60 degree weather with a laptop and a cigar, writing and working out some new comic ideas. There is something magical about working on a computer outside. The cigar was good too. I have laptop envy now, since the one I was using is a loaner.
Another crucial discovery this weekend… Kenny Vs. Spenny. One of our contractors is Canadian and decided to unexpectedly lay this DVD on me. Like all such received items I ignored it for two weeks. A boring lunch on Friday got the better of me and I popped it in. Imagine MTV’s Jackass, but with a point. Best friends Kenny and Spencer duke it out in insane competitions each week; whomever loses suffers “humiliation,” which are either really gross or really funny. The competitions range from clever to bizarre (one episode I haven’t seen yet is to see who can stay on a cow the longest). Oh, and Kenny usually cheats, which means Kenny usually wins. The cheating is the funniest bit to me, because I’m convinced Kenny is a criminal mastermind. His mind works in devious ways that I cannot foresee; there are some competitions that I would never think there would be an obvious way to cheat, and yet, Kenny finds that way.
Apparently, Kenny Vs. Spenny is aired on the Game Network here in the States. If you have that channel, I heartily recommend getting Tivo to suck them down. Netflix has it as well. It is a great reality-type show that doesn’t go for the obvious cheap gross-out laughs.
1 What on earth was I thinking? How would that combination provide anything but a severe bout of depression?
