So, Tuesdays seem to be the time when I come in and write about what we did in yoga last night. Sorry – I’m still really excited about it since I started about four or five months ago. It’s the little things.
Last night, I was able to go all the way up into my first full head stand and I did a Wheel pose also without much hassle. My body seems to be more forgiving and limber now. Here’s a shot of what a Wheel pose looks like – I had some blocks under my hands, but I got up there no problem! Then Ben came around, threw a strap under my back and jacked me way up. It was… weird; I didn’t think my body could bend that way, and when it did I was half-amazed and half-scared.
It is good to get out of your comfort zone and take some risks. I’m happy Ben talked me into it last night. So often, I am repeating the same tasks over and over again, week in and week out. Mowing the lawn, walking the dog, drawing my page – I enjoy all of these in their own way, but people crave new experiences. Yoga has helped scratch that itch and made the routine activities more enjoyable.

It’s pretty amazing the things we can do when we’re asked. Yoga’s been that way to me. At first, I’d see a pose and think to myself, “I’ll never be able to do that.” Now, I just check in with my body & give it a go. If I don’t make it all the way the first time, I’m a lot more patient, and think what I need to do to get there. Strengthen here. Get more flexible there. Take my time.
That said & done, you did a great job, Max. Hell, if your mom can do it. [damn]
I’m totally with you on trying out new things. I try to build in some ‘wander time’ into my week so that I can go someplace I’ve never been, check out old interests [books, music, comics, movies, art], or just revisit some place I haven’t been to in years—like our old school restaurant tour.
Speaking of which, we’ll have to start taking photos & blogging that.
Oh, and we need to start on that reggaeton album, vis a vis Christian’s recent post.
