New Job Next Week

It was time.

I have resigned from my position at Oriental Trading Company and have accepted a position at Bozell & Jacobs, a local ad agency with a rich history in its industry.

I have been with Oriental Trading since 2002 and have helped grow their e-commerce side of the business to new heights. I’ve been very thankful to be a part of such a wonderful team as we joined the ranks of Internet Retailer’s exclusive Top 50 Online Retailers several years in a row. I’ve been immersed in business and marketing culture, as well as a fast pace web development environment, and I think I’ve come out the other end much different than when I came in. I was promoted, became a supervisor in charge of a small design team, and I learned more from them than I think they learned from me. I’ve worked with people from all walks of life, from all disciplines of business, and I will miss them all.

That said, I’m thrilled to have a change in my life such as the one I will be embarking on next week. Bozell offers a creative environment which I’ve not seen before at that scale, and I’m very excited to join its ranks and to share the knowledge I’ve gained through 4 years of slogging it out in one of the most exciting areas of the web. Every piece of my experience these last four years have been hard fought – in many cases (as others in any company’s e-commerce team know), we were making it up as we went along, struggling in the dark to find the right consumers and match them with the right products. Taking this knowledge and employing it to a variety of clients new to e-commerce will be exhilarating to say the least.

It has been a very sad and extremely busy last two weeks as I prepare to leave the company. I expect I’ll be a little overwhelmed the next few weeks, so be patient dear readers. I promise to keep posting when I can!
