    The Untitled Webcomic

In Friday’s newsletter, I brought everyone up to speed on the current comic projects on my plate. Besides Golden Boy and Quick Step, I’ve been developing an idea for a long form webcomic, a graphic novel online. It actually started as three different stories, but their themes were so similar that I thought they could easily be combined into one great story. Oh, and it is science fiction, something I really like when it is done well (emphasis on the fiction). Here’s a sketch from the still untitled project from my Moleskine:

    Clown

That clown ain’t crying tears neither; it’s blood.

just started? surely you’re finished by now. i mean, that newsletter was sent out two or three days ago. how long do you need, man?! you wrote a 50,000 word novel in a month, surely you can do a webcomic in a day or two!

oh, wait. let me turn off my sarcasm-o-matic. there we go. much better.

it’ll be great to see this whenever you get finished, max. no rush. :)

    As always, looks nice Max.

Where did you get your Moleskin, by the way? I’ve been in the market for a Moleskin Sketchbook and haven’t found one yet.

Kenneth: I gotta finish Quick Step first, then I’ll start this one (whatever the hell it will be called).

Kartooner: Thanks, and I got two links for you.

    1. Have you been to 43 Folders yet? All sorts of Moleskine goodness. In fact, he linked to MoleskineUS recently, which seems to have everything you could need! I usually just get mine at my local Borders, but I seem to have an exceptional Borders in the area.

    2. The Secret Friend Society. Two webcomics. Two artists. One WordPress install (I thought of you instantly). Go now (this one applies to all my readers – it is a wonderful children’s webcomic/site).

Sweet, thanks Max. I appreciate the help and will also take a look at Borders to see if they might have them in stock.

As for the Secret Friend Society, all I can say is that rocks. Actually it’s funny you recommended it because the design itself is similar to what I’m trying to achieve with kartooner (eventually). First I need to figure out Wordpress’s new Theme Manager which upon first glance seems pretty robust.

Speaking of which I need to remind myself to install Textpattern and see if I can get it deployed for Sideville. I’ll be emailing you if I need any help, so heads up!

Help on Textpattern?! Did you not read of my difficulties? You’d have better luck with a blind monkey! :)

Max is better than a blind monkey. He’s at least as capable as a sighted monkey, or one with a really kick-ass seeing eye dog. ;)

If you do get into Textpattern troubles, Kartooner, I’m sure Max and I can help you get out of anything you get into.

Yeah, right. Go to the Textpattern Forum and see who has more posts helping people (hint: it’s Kenneth).

I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks.

Max, speaking of moleskin notebooks I just read about Creating your own Makeshift Moleskin over at Subtraction.

I saw that last night! Very cool idea (and soooo much cheaper). Here are two more homemade ideas that you might like if you liked those:

    Hipster PDA

    The Vinyl Sketchbook

My only problem with both of the sketchbooks are that I am a paper snob! :) I love the way my pencil or gel pen glides across a Moleskine. The Hipster PDA, however, is tempting to try. I think you could combine the best traits of the Hipster with some of the Moleskine hacks on 43 Folders though.
