Time: Not on My Side?

I’ve got a stack of papers to file, a stack of newspapers to read, a stack of work to do at home, and it doesn’t feel like I have any time to do anything.

Except read the latest issue of The Ultimates. Hot damn. Who knew Hawkeye could be so cool?

But I digress. The reality is I actually do have time to accomplish all of those tasks, but I seem to flailing about at home this week, which is a sure sign of burnout. So instead of getting down on myself, I applaud my small accomplishments. I took out the trash, and I’ll skip reading the papers for a week. I wanted to get the March pinup done on Tuesday, but I have taken the time to actually learn the Gradient Mesh tool in Illustrator (and wow, is it cool). This is something I’ve been wanting to learn for awhile, and schedule be damned – I give these away for free. Eager downloaders – you can wait for free stuff, yes? I thought so. Trust me, it’ll be cool. I promise.

When faced with burnout and there is no time for a break, slowing down is the best way to work through it. I can’t be operating at 100% all of the time. Sometimes I have to bust it down to 90%.
