Yesterday, I realized as I was reading the Wall Street Journal after work that I had turned into my grandfather. I drink scotch, smoke cigars, and read the Journal in the evenings, sometimes all three at the same time. In fact, he has nurtured all of these activities at one time or another! He showed me how to drink scotch, taught me all about how to smoke a cigar and how to get good ones, and guided me through the financial and business news. He’s created a Mini-He, and it’s me!

Another thing my grandfather liked to do was work, and boy have I been busy. Here’s the lowdown so far:

1. Writing Experiment: I don’t think I’ve mentioned it too much before, but I’m working on a comics project with three artists where I am actually writing the stories for them to draw (instead of vice versa, my usual situation is to draw what others write). I got a first draft of the first story done last night. I’m really excited about this; look for more information as the artists start working on the project.
2. Bicycle Jerseys: I designed the Chief’s RAGBRAI team jerseys this year. That has been a lot of fun. I sent everything off to the project manager to send to the jersey-maker. Hopefully there is no problems. I’m excited to see the final results. I’d post a picture here, but I’m afraid it wouldn’t do it justice. I’ll take a picture of the jersey when it is printed and done.
3. Quick Step Page 1 and June’s Pinup: I’m saving these for the weekend. Nothing like waiting until the last minute,eh? I’ve gone back and forth on the subject matter for the pinup all month, and I think I’ve finally decided to make it a bit seedy in its tone; I’ve been thinking all week about the some of the rougher sides of life lately. This pinup should be a reflection of that. On the Quick Step front, I’m working out a deal with my favorite comic store about re-publishing each week’s entry on their newly-launched website. Look for more information about the deal next week.

That’s about it, except for the lawn-mowing. God, will it ever stop growing so goddamn fast?! I’m mowing, like, twice a week. Thank god for the iPod Shuffle.
