    Woo-hoo! Comics!

I hadn’t mentioned this yet, because it is still a week and a half away, but I feel like I should now.

Free Comic Book Day 2005 is Saturday, May 7! What is Free Comic Book Day, you ask? Well, exactly what it sounds like! Every year, comic book stores around the country give away free comics to anyone who walks into the store! It is a great way to introduce new readers to comics, or to give an older reader something out of their sphere of regular titles to experience. The selection of comics is quite good, ranging from children comics to more sophisticated work. You can literally walk out with a stack of free comics!

This year, I’ve been invited to be a guest artist at Krypton Comics in Omaha (here’s a Google Map), along with my Shocktrauma buddies Fredd Gorham and Phil Hester! We’ll be doing free sketches and hanging out with fans.

I’m mentioning this now because I just got back from Krypton Comics to load up on new comics. They purchased a commercial for the event! With my name on it! How cool is that?! They showed it to me at the shop. Words can’t express how thankful I am for Krypton for inviting me; they run a great shop, and I am thrilled to be a part of the event!

Comics, man, I love comics! Not only because of the medium, but the insane amount of nice individuals you meet. I don’t even have a book published, and Krypton is treating me like royalty. Guess what? It isn’t an act either, because when you come into the shop, they’ll treat you, the customer, with the same sort of respect. So please, drop into the shop on Saturday if you have a chance, grab some free comics, some free sketches, hang out and say ‘hello!’

Congrats Superstar. Happen to have an MPEG of the commercial?

    Max,

It gives me a great deal pandemic intellectual stimulation to hear that you are on a commercial. Perhaps they will run it side to side with the episode III trailer on Babylon V so the masses may absorb all that whole is the comic world.

Dear lord the horror. I can smell that comic store from here. A mixture of well oiled virgin and ass sweat.

All of us who read this blog await the coming festival of stank palmish delight.
